It always surprises me how New Year’s Eve sneaks up on us. We barely get to recover from Christmas and all of a sudden it’s time to party again.
It’s less than a week between the two. I at least focus so much on Christmas that New Year becomes an afterthought and I end up scrambling for a suitable outfit last minute.
This year I’m going to have it all done in time. I’m planning (and purchasing) my outfit now (or why not ask for something sassy for Christmas?).
If there is a time to be extra, it’s on New Year’s Eve. You can literally get away with anything. I prefer to be overdressed than underdressed in general and on this one day of the year I go all-in.
I actually have two great reasons to feel fabulous on the 31st. The second is that it is, in fact, our wedding anniversary! Clever Tess here made sure we got married on a date the hubby could never forget. And we have a great reason to make sure New years eve is extra special every year.
Our tradition is to go away and so far we have celebrated in Zimbabwe (the actual wedding), the Caribbean, Scotland, Cape town and this year for our 4th anniversary we will be in Sweden.
My dream outfit this year is the princess dress by Marchesa Notte matched with those amazing Sophia Webster butterfly heels I have been loving for ages now. But honestly, I would be ecstatic to wear any of these 5 new year’s outfits. Those Jimmy choo tulle heels… it’s pure shoeporn!
When we are on the subject of clothes, I have finally put some more stuff up for sale on Vestiaire Collective. Lovely items I don’t use as much anymore that would need new loving homes. Mainly from brands like by Malene Birger, Gryphon, McQ, Giuseppe Zanotti, Maje and more.
Actually, almost all the things I’m selling are black! I made myself a promise to wear more color, so I’m glad to see a few items go (even though I’m a bit worried I might regret selling the feather jacket).
I have also given at least one bag of clothes a week recently to “Save the children”. I’m having a proper clear-out and only the creme de la creme will stay. It’s time for my wardrobe to grow up and I finally feel settled enough in my personal style to go for bigger investment pieces over trend-led highstreet items.
Ok, queens! Have you planned your new year’s outfits? If not, get on it now, so you don’t have to buy something you only half-like last minute later.
